The Superintendent or designee is authorized to sign a criminal complaint and to press charges against perpetrators of vandalism against District property, and is further authorized to delegate, as he/she sees fit, authority to sign such complaints and to press charges.

Students who willfully destroy District property through vandalism or arson, or who create a hazard to the safety of other people on District property, may be referred to law enforcement authorities. Students who are caught vandalizing District property may be suspended or expelled, and a parent conference may be arranged.  Each employee of the District shall report to the principal of the school every incident of vandalism known to him/her, and, if known, the names of those responsible.

Parents and students shall be made aware of the legal implications involved. The law provides that parents are liable for the willful destruction of property by a minor in their custody or control.
