  • Education begins when the bus doors open

We transport an average of 13,000 students to and from school every day. Bus drivers help to ensure a student feels safe, supported and ready for learning when they arrive at school.

  • Safety begins with training

Drivers receive comprehensive training that includes student management, CPR and first aid, defensive driving, mountain driving and special education procedures.

  • Not just bus drivers…

Dispatchers, schedulers, trainers, mechanics, and transportation education assistants collaborate to provide efficient and professional transit for students in Douglas County.

  • Community partners

Bus drivers are always ready to assist with local events and provide support to law enforcement agencies during times of crisis or natural disaster.

Here at Douglas County School District, student safety is our number one priority. So in accordance with that, we at the DCSD Transportation Department have developed the Buster the Bus Program. Buster is DCSD's very own mechanical bus safety mascot that communicates in a lively, interactive manner, the importance of school bus safety…covering all of the safety protocols and expectations for both students and staff alike. Buster presentations help assure parents that their children’s safety on a DCSD school bus is our #1 commitment and priority. For more information or to book a presentation, please contact the Buster team at 303-387-0596 or send your request through Let's Talk
