The Boettcher Foundation is excited to once again be seeking applicants for our scholarship, which is available to graduating high school seniors in Colorado. As you may be aware, the Boettcher Scholarship recognizes the dynamic thinkers and leaders who will propel Colorado forward. It is awarded to 42 of Colorado’s top high school seniors each year and includes full tuition and fees at any accredited, four-year Colorado undergraduate institution, as well as living and book stipends, campus enrichment programming and annual events.
To be considered for the Boettcher Scholarship, a student must meet these minimum requirements:
- Be a graduating Colorado high school senior who has lived in Colorado for his or her junior and senior years of high school
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
- Meet the requirements for Colorado ASSET AND one of (a) or (b) below:
- Hold legal status in the United States; or
- Meet the requirements and have applied or started the process of applying for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)**
** The Trump Administration recently announced its intent to rescind the DACA program. At this time, applicants who currently hold or would have met the requirements for DACA are still welcome to apply for the Boettcher Scholarship. We will continue to work with our legal counsel to determine individual applicants’ eligibility as executive or legislative efforts evolve in the upcoming months. Please note that eligibility to receive funding may shift after an applicant enters our selection process.
The Boettcher Foundation will not release any student’s information to federal officials or anyone else outside of our campus partners for recruitment purposes, unless we receive a lawful subpoena or warrant that requires us to do so.
Reminder: We have removed the academic eligibility requirements to allow more students to compete. Academic records will still be a major component of our selection process, however. We therefore understand that some candidates will be more competitive than others. We encourage you to have your students visit the “Eligibility & Selection Criteria” page on ourwebsite and take our Senior Competitiveness Quiz, which will help them make an informed decision as to whether they would like to apply for the Boettcher Scholarship. Note that this quiz is just one piece of information to factor into a student’s decision regarding whether to apply, and it is not comprehensive. Our application is part of a holistic selection process that evaluates applicants on all four of our selection criteria.
