1st Grader Brennan Lindholm wins Holiday Wreath fundraiser award!

Castle Rock Elementary embarked in their second annual Holiday Wreath fundraiser this November. Students were given two weeks to sell a variety of holiday wreath and decorate door hanger products to their families, friends and neighbors. As an incentive for students to put their best salesman/saleswoman foot forward, the PTO offered a prize: two front row tickets to the upcoming CRE production of "The Lion King Experience" on December 8 at 6pm. 

First grader Brennan Lindholm took to the challenge. Within the two week time frame, he collected two full order forms. It was then decided that the students may have an extra day to sell, and Brennan took advantage of this by bringing in an additional order forms that were packed with orders! In total, Brennan sold 33 Holiday Wreath products from this fundraiser! Brennan, pictured above, was thrilled to receive his tickets! He and his family are looking forward to seeing the performance later this week. 

In all, the CRE student body did a fantastic job with sharing this opportunity to beautify their community. The sales from this year more than doubled from last years fundraiser.

District News

The Douglas County School District Board of Education welcomes Dr. Thomas S. Tucker into the role of Superintendent of Douglas County School District. Dr. Tucker officially leads the 68,000 student district as of July 1, 2018.


Nearly 1,500 Colorado students applied for the prestigious Boettcher Foundation Scholarship this year, with 42 being named recipients. Of those, the Douglas County School District (DCSD) is proudly home to four recipients.


When it comes to mental health services, communities traditionally focus on supporting kids as needs arise. This work is crucial for the safety of our students. Equally important, though, is prevention-based programming that can help, early on, prevent the social-emotional challenges our kids may be experiencing from escalating.
