#CountyforCory Campaign a Huge Success

Students in the DCHS feeder area participated in the #CountyforCory Wish Week Jan 23-27, 2017. Students raised money for a Douglas County School District student named Cory, who is suffering from a terminal illness, to fulfill his wish of visiting Disney World.

CRE students and staff had a goal to raise $2000. At the end of Spirit Week, they raised a total of  $2,221.00!

In total, the DCHS feeder schools raised between $35,000 and $40,000 for Make-A-Wish.

A Make-A-Wish experience typically costs between $5,000 and $7,000. The extra money earned will help other children make their dreams come true with other Make-A-Wish experiences.

When it comes to mental health services, communities traditionally focus on supporting kids as needs arise. This work is crucial for the safety of our students. Equally important, though, is prevention-based programming that can help, early on, prevent the social-emotional challenges our kids may be experiencing from escalating.
