CRE raises over $3000 for Wish Week 2018!

This January, CRE is joining forces with other Douglas County High School feeder schools and the Make-A-Wish Foundation to participate in Wish Week from January 22-26. The Make-A-Wish Foundation helps provide trips for children with a life threatening medical condition or terminal illness diagnosis. Each year during Wish Week, DCHS and their feeder schools sponsor a child to fund their Make-A-Wish trip. This year, DCHS feeder schools have sponsored Caleb, a 5 year old boy with T-Cell leukemia. Caleb's dream is to go on a Marvel cruise because he loves superheroes!

CRE's Wish Week activities brought in a total donation of $3008.54! Combined with the rest of the DCHS community, a grand total of $47,000 was raised! Not only did the community raise enough money for Caleb to have his wish granted, enough money was raised for 7 ADDITIONAL wishes will be granted!

When it comes to mental health services, communities traditionally focus on supporting kids as needs arise. This work is crucial for the safety of our students. Equally important, though, is prevention-based programming that can help, early on, prevent the social-emotional challenges our kids may be experiencing from escalating.
