CRE Experiences Solar Eclipse

On Monday, August 21, 2017, the students of Castle Rock Elementary were excited to participate in the viewing of the nearly total solar eclipse. The eclipse, featuring an estimated 93% totality in the Castle Rock area of Colorado, crossed the United States from Oregon to South Carolina.

CRE students who were equipped with solar eclipse glasses rated ISO 12312-2 were invited to the upper viewing area at the base of the rock in Rock Park to experience the eclipse. Students who did not have the safety glasses or who chose to remain behind were able to watch a live stream of the solar event in the gym with other schoolmates.

Equally important, though, is prevention-based programming that can help, early on, prevent the social-emotional challenges our kids may be experiencing from escalating.
