Lone Tree Elementary Guest Motivates Students to Make a Difference
Students, parents, teachers and staff got the chance to kick off the school year being inspired thanks to innovation specialist, A.J. Juliani. Juliani is an educator, public speaker and author. He studies people, schools, companies and organizations around the world to analyze how we can learn in deeper and more powerful ways.
Lone Tree Elementary principal, Mindy Persichina, said “The hope for today is our kids walk away feeling empowered with a sense they can do anything. They can create and their ideas can come to fruition; and for all of our teachers to know they play a role in that and give them a platform to do it.”
Students watched in awe as Juliani shared several examples of kids making a difference in the world and taking their ideas and launching them into actual plans.
The presentation encouraged students to think outside the box and focus on how they could make a difference. “Seeing how other people can make such a big difference was awesome. It was really cool to see how kids could work together and make change. It makes me want to help the community and the world too,” said sixth-grader, Keeley.
“Kids are just trying to figure out the world around them and they do that by talking to adults and talking to each other. So anytime you can get an adult in front of them to reinforce these things, encourage them and impact change – even as a student – anytime they can hear it, I think that changes the narrative for kids and how they think,” said Juliani.
