DCSD Honored for Excellence in Financial Reporting and Operations

Douglas County School District (DCSD) is once again being recognized for excellence in financial reporting and operations. The district is the recipient of the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International’s Meritorious Budget Award. Earlier this month, Fitch Ratings recognized DCSD with an AA+ rating.

The ASBO award recognizes excellence in budget presentation during the 2016-2017 fiscal year. The Meritorious Budget Awards (MBA) program promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation and enhances school business officials' skills in developing, analyzing and presenting a school system budget. After a rigorous review by professional auditors, the award is conferred only on school districts that have met or exceeded the program’s stringent criteria.

Fitch says a rating of AA+ reflects DCSD’s strong financial operations, spending flexibility, and healthy reserves, which support financial flexibility through economic cycles. Fitch is a leading provider of credit ratings, commentary and research.
