Library Staff Orientation

Teacher librarians and library staff across the district gathered at the District Library Media Center during the first week of August for informative learning sessions.

The sessions were strategically designed to provide a flexible schedule so that library staff would be able to integrate the training into their own busy schedules.  The DLMP Director, Linda Conway, stated, “We were hoping that this extended training schedule would provide enough options for our librarians and library staff to get the training they needed at their convenience.”  

Sessions included collection alignment, digital integration, and CITE assessment for our licensed teacher librarians. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the latest features offered through the district’s library management software and created their very own Bucket List while utilizing the DCSD databases.  Other session highlights included how to create and facilitate a MakerSpace area, which houses our very own 3-D MakerBot printer.

Technology was a focal point for the sessions.  Participants left with the confidence to share their knowledge of eBooks and device apps with their staff and students.

The Douglas County School District Board of Education welcomes Dr. Thomas S. Tucker into the role of Superintendent of Douglas County School District. Dr. Tucker officially leads the 68,000 student district as of July 1, 2018.


Nearly 1,500 Colorado students applied for the prestigious Boettcher Foundation Scholarship this year, with 42 being named recipients. Of those, the Douglas County School District (DCSD) is proudly home to four recipients.


When it comes to mental health services, communities traditionally focus on supporting kids as needs arise. This work is crucial for the safety of our students. Equally important, though, is prevention-based programming that can help, early on, prevent the social-emotional challenges our kids may be experiencing from escalating.
