Learning Academy is Coming

Winter may be coming, but so is The Learning Academy.  The quest for ideas, examples, and inspiration can leave teachers and leaders on a never-ending Google search wondering whether or not the resource is valuable for their professional growth.

Learning Academy is the result of input and collaboration with teachers, administrators, and district departments. From literacy strategies to tech tools, Learning Academy is an ever growing resource for teachers and leaders. Check out the different categories currently in the Learning Academy:



Victoria Newman, a first year teacher at Coyote Creek Elementary, shared her thoughts when she explored Learning Academy.

“Not only will it help me, but it’ll help my students to better their education and to make sure that they are on the right track because I’m on the right track.”

Join Victoria and many other teachers and leaders by checking out Learning Academy. It will officially go live in January, but DCSD staff can take a sneak peak during the months of November & December.

District News

The Douglas County School District Board of Education welcomes Dr. Thomas S. Tucker into the role of Superintendent of Douglas County School District. Dr. Tucker officially leads the 68,000 student district as of July 1, 2018.


Nearly 1,500 Colorado students applied for the prestigious Boettcher Foundation Scholarship this year, with 42 being named recipients. Of those, the Douglas County School District (DCSD) is proudly home to four recipients.


When it comes to mental health services, communities traditionally focus on supporting kids as needs arise. This work is crucial for the safety of our students. Equally important, though, is prevention-based programming that can help, early on, prevent the social-emotional challenges our kids may be experiencing from escalating.
