What’s New in DCSD
“I’m convinced this is going to be our best year ever! Our work continued this summer and we are ready to welcome students back into the classroom,” said Dr. Elizabeth Fagen, DCSD Superintendent. “The energy and excitement from our students and staff is contagious!”
Here’s a look at a few new things in DCSD this year:
DCSD Mobile App: Download the latest version of the DCSD mobile app and stay connected.
DCSD Parent University: New this year, Parent University will educate, empower and connect families with community resources needed to provide confidence, character development and life skills. DCSD Parent University registration will open on September 9.
DCSD Parent Liaison: In May 2014, DCSD added the Office of Parent Liaison to connect parents with District resources and leaders. The DCSD Parent Liaison will work closely with SACs, maintain a social media presence and serve as a liaison.
DCSD Choice Fairs: DCSD will host three Choice Fairs to showcase schools and District programs. This is an opportunity for parents and students to learn more about what makes each school unique and choose a school that best fits their needs.
Castle View High School: The Mosaic Collective is a pilot program being implemented this year for a group of 9th and 10th graders. The new program will address the personalized learning needs of each student in a transformational learning environment. Teachers will collaborate with each student to develop curriculum aligned with that particular student's passion and interest. At the same time, the teacher will also ensure the individual student learns critical standards and skills. The Mosaic Collective teachers have spent a great deal of time researching and developing an approach to education that will best prepare students for a future filled with change and uncertainty.
No Limits: Our high-quality video vignettes have become a hallmark of our Community Relations efforts. This year, we are creating a new franchise to feature this work. The ‘No Limits’ concept was developed by members of Dr. Fagen’s Teacher Advisory Committee and we look forward to implementing it. The goal of these pieces is to provide tangible exemplars for our employees and share our accomplishments with the community.
