August 2 Board Briefing (Board Retreat)
CASTLE ROCK – Douglas County Board of Education President Kevin Larsen announced on Monday that its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, August 5, would be canceled.
The decision follows a productive Board retreat this weekend at the Douglas County Outdoor Education Center. During Saturday’s work session, the Board was briefed on District communication plans, efforts to waive certain assessment rules and it discussed its policy on public comment and meeting plans for the school year.
Finally, the Board members took action on a single action item, voting to suspend the headphone fee, due to a clarification of the new assessment requirements. Headphones are not required for this current year for the PARC and the READ Act.
The next regularly scheduled Board meeting will be on Tuesday, August 19, in the Board Room of the Wilcox Administration Building, with the public portion of the meeting convening at approximately 7 p.m.
During this meeting the Board is expected to approve its 2014-2015 meeting schedule.
