Mountain Vista makes it to 5A Final Four

HIGHLANDS RANCH – The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles is one of the four boys basketball teams still standing in this year’s 5A State Tournament.

The team will face Fossil Ridge on Friday March 14 at 8:30 p.m. at the Coors Events Center on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, for the chance to play in Saturday’s 5A championship game.

Mountain Vista claimed its spot in the Final Four after beating Eaglecrest 65 to 61 in the Great 8 on March 7. Unfortunately the Highlands Ranch Falcons were knocked out of contention in that round after a decisive defeat against Denver East (47-65).

Meanwhile, it was a great season for girls basketball with five teams in the top 10 at one point. Four of the teams made it to the 5A Sweet 16, Mountain Vista, Castle View, Rock Canyon and Highlands Ranch washed out of the tournament on March 4.
