Castle View High School three-peats in coed cheer

Castle View scores state champion three-peat in night dominated by DCSD

DENVER – Douglas County once again owned the State Spirit Championships, winning the 5A Cheer, 4A/5A Coed Cheer and Jazz competitions.

During the event held at the Denver Coliseum on Saturday, December 10, cheer and poms teams from across the Douglas County School District shined.

Castle View High School - 4A/5A Coed Cheer Champions

Castle View High School achieved a three-peat in 4A/5A Coed Cheer and Mountain Vista High School earned the runner-up trophy.

In the 5A Cheer competition, Rock Canyon High School was crowned state champion, while Chaparral High School placed third.

Ponderosa High School - 2016 Jazz Champions

Ponderosa High School became the 2016 Jazz Champion, in a competition in which five other DCSD schools placed in the top 10:
#2 Mountain Vista
#3 Chaparral
#6 Rock Canyon
#8 Highlands Ranch
#9 Castle View

Finally, ThunderRidge came in third place in 5A Poms.

District News

The Douglas County School District Board of Education welcomes Dr. Thomas S. Tucker into the role of Superintendent of Douglas County School District. Dr. Tucker officially leads the 68,000 student district as of July 1, 2018.


Nearly 1,500 Colorado students applied for the prestigious Boettcher Foundation Scholarship this year, with 42 being named recipients. Of those, the Douglas County School District (DCSD) is proudly home to four recipients.


When it comes to mental health services, communities traditionally focus on supporting kids as needs arise. This work is crucial for the safety of our students. Equally important, though, is prevention-based programming that can help, early on, prevent the social-emotional challenges our kids may be experiencing from escalating.
