We thank you for your participation in activities and athletics in the Douglas County School District. We understand the time, effort and discipline that this commitment requires--not only to the students, but also to their families.

In Douglas County, we believe that these athletics and activities are more than just extra-curricular opportunities.  They help us create 21st Century learners who will be prepared to compete on a world stage for the college or career pathway of their choice.

Athletics and activities are integral to creating ethical, healthy, adaptable and socially responsible kids who are great communicators able to think critically and creatively, work collaboratively. We know that a student’s participation in sports, yearbook, and many other opportunities are helping to prepare them for their futures.

The Douglas County School District provides District transportation for students to and from a great many activities, events, matches and games. Please be aware that at times, the District is unable to provide District transportation in certain circumstances.

When District transportation is not available, it is the student’s parent(s)/guardian(s) responsibility to provide or arrange for their student’s transportation to and from the event.

Each athlete and his/her parent/guardian must sign a Transportation Awareness Consent and Release at the beginning of each school year.

Unified Sports

Unified sports were developed to promote athletic participation for special needs students. Each team is comprised of players (special needs students) and partners (general education students). Players and partners work together to compete against other unified teams. Only players can score for their team. Partners assist with directing play, and helping players score if needed. Unified sports are club sports and are supported by fundraising and donations. Please contact each high school’s main office to learn more about participation in unified sports.
